Medium Rigid (MR) Lessons
Key requirements to get a MR License:
You need to have held a car license for 12 months and be able to show the driving examiner you have the following skills:
- Pre-drive checks;
- Manoeuvres – reversing exercise; turn around manoeuvre (3 point turn) and hill start;
- Specific driving situations;
- Vehicle operation skills;
- Hazard recognition and decision making skills.
Vehicle used for training: Mitsubitshi Pantec 6 Speed Synchromesh.
Key features of Medium Rigid (MR) vehicle: They have 2 axles and are over 8 Tonnes GVM.

Heavy Rigid (HR) Lessons
Key requirements to get a HR License:
You need to have held an MR license for 12 months, or a car license for 2 years, and be able to show the driving examiner you have the following skills:
- Pre-drive checks;
- Manoeuvres – reversing exercise and hill start;
- Specific driving situations;
- Vehicle operation skills;
- Hazard recognition and decision making skills.
Vehicle used for training: Ford Ltl 15 Speed Roadranger Gearbox
Key features of Medium Rigid (HR) vehicle: HR vehicles are any motor vehicle (truck or bus) with 3 axles and a GVM of 15 Tonne and over.
